Jean-Benoit Pilet is Professor of Political Science at Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) – Belgium. He works on elections, political parties, electoral systems and immigration politics. He has recently co-edited (with William Cross) The selection of party leaders in contemporary parliamentary democracies (Routledge, 2014) as well as several articles in the European Journal of Political Research, Electoral Studies, Party Politics, West European Politics, Representation and the Journal of Experimental Political Science. On immigration politics, he is the co-author, with Laura Morales and Didier Ruedin, of ‘The Gap between Public Preferences and Policies on Immigration: A Comparative Examination of the Effect of Politicisation on Policy Congruence’ (Journal of Ethic and Migration Studies, 2015) and, with Guido van Goidsenhoven, of ‘The politicization of immigration in Belgium (in van der Brug, D’Amato, Berkhout and Ruedin, The Politicisation of Immigration, Routledge, 2015).
